Biker Babe
Hi all,

Brilliant site and glad to be a member!!  grin.gif

I passed my test recently and ive bought a ZZR600E2 1994 as my first bike, being a short arris proved a problem when trying to get a bike that I could get both feet on the floor, but I got there in the end hence the ZZR.

So does anyone else have a ZZR600 or have had a ZZR600 and could tell me any tips, faults etc?

Thanx peeps    laughcont.gif  laughcont.gif

Hi Biker Babe. welcome and glad you like the site. There are a few folk on here, who are fans of the zzr's and kawsaki's.

i used to have one till i crashed it!

check the front brake caliper bolts are tight, as my crash was caused by one of them coming out. the caliper spun round and locked up the front wheel! ouch!

great bike tho, loads of grunt.. take it easy if youve just passed your test , it will scare you easily if you dont treat it with care ( as with any  600 sports bike really)

If its a 94 bike then it should have had the pipes changed for stainless ones as the originals were rubbish.  What sort of provable history have you got?  If its been looked after then it should be fine as they were/are well built bikes with a solid engine.  Rear shock is prone to early failure due to getting covered in crap from the rear tyre so have a look at yours and check it by pressing on the seat looking for smooth up and down and not down easy then bounce up!  Keep it clean and periodically take the fairing lowers off to clean any nooks and crannies.
Good solid bike and the amount of them still around and in good nick speaks volumes.  Fast too saint2.gif

Only you, my dear BW, would describe a Bandit as a sports bike swivel.gif  :D

Congrats on the ZZR BB,
Progressive Suspension do front springs for around £55 & Hagon do a good enough rear for a couple of hundred-I have these in my ZZR 1100-transformed the handling-the factory stuff usually goes off around 18000 miles.
Dont be taken in by the bike press crap that the ZZR 6 is a tourer-its a fast as most of the 6's out there.
If I remember correctly the exhausts are a weak point on them-keep em clean, especially around the collector.
Have FUN & lets see some pics in the Gallery.

That's as maybe, but with my arris you need something a little wider... laughcont.gif and with my reactions and eyesight I'm lucky not to be on a CG125 really laughcont.gif

Let's race then wwww.gif I've just got Moto GP... and I am as truly bad at that as I am riding the real thing... I have yet to make the first corner in any race... which does hamper the chances of getting to the "good bit" where you race through cities against other bikes, dodging cars and pedallers rolleyes.gif Anyone got a cheat code?

swivel.gif yourself!

When I said "sports bike" I meant you had to be a good sport to ride one... bearing in mind the piss taking buggers you have to put up with on these bloody forumy things... wwww.gif

I've never owned a ZZR but they're a nice looking bike and the people I've known that have them rate the bike highly.
Get to know your bike gradually or it'll bite the hand that fills it.

Hi nottoc are you a secret cotton fetishist?

I've recently bought a ZZR600 E7. Only been out on it a couple of times (Yeah, Im a fair weather biker!), and I think its a cracking good bike.
The style hasn't changed that much over the years, but it still has good looks and it's definitely fast enough for me.

Can't wait for the good weather and long lazy weekends grin.gif

All I have to do now is figure out how to disarm the alarm/immobilizer! Oo1.gif

I own and ride a zzr600 e7 too, not much i can add to the other posts.
for comfort power and speed, i think the zzr is one of the best buys out there.

i might get myself a zzr 6 in the near future, everybody seems to talk good stuff about this bike. Im also thinking on the thundercat, which of the 2 bikes is more confortable? and performancewise?

Well i had a thundercat 2003 yes its a brilliant bike the suspension settings work and you can tell the difference, iwas getting about 194miles to reserve at about 80-85mph and commuting about 45-48mpgand the brakes are excellant.its got a lot of midrange grunt which is good, you get a rush at about 6krevs then another about 10k.Good two up with enough luggage for a weekend rally
The bad points and there are not very many but a) the headlight is crap for a bike like this,b)the mirror stems could be about a inch or so longer and c)which i found was about under 5k revs 80mph aprox top gear the bike use to make my fingers tingle through vibes.oh yea and no centre stand
So while im here i want to know is does the zzr600 vibe atall in this 5k rev range, will it do about the same mpg to a tank full and anything else that might be usefull info

Hi Alan, the petrol cosumption on the ZZR is pretty good, but that can be affected by the way you ride, i've only ever done 1 check on what i was using set off heading to Scotland from the East midlands and thought i would have to stop at scotch corner for a fill up, anyway i passed that distance of around 130mls and refuled later at a garage on the A66 covering 175mls and not on reserve. As for comfort i covered 700mls in one day, no aches or pains and a total joy to ride. no problems with vibration. you cant in my opinion buy a better sport/tourer than this bike, but you can do a whole lot worse.
